Chamber Banquet plans set; Janet Huckabee to speakBY AUTUMN PENNINGTONPublished Wednesday, December 26, 2001 in the Gurdon Times Gurdon's Chamber of Commerce will hold it's yearly banquet on Monday, February 4, 2002, at the Gurdon High School Cafetorium. The Chamber has announced the featured speaker will be First Lady of the State of Arkansas, Janet Huckabee. Huckabee is a busy lady as she involved with many organizations throughout the state. Her involvement includes: The Baptist Health Foundation Board, American Red Cross of Central Arkansas Chapter Board, Starting Committee of the Women's Department of Humanity, serving as honorary chair for Operation KidCare and Smart Start, which encourages parents to read to their children. Not to mention, Huckabee is an Alumni of Ouachita Baptist University. Huckabee said, " In a world of uncertainty OBU provides strong foundations for anyone who strives to be a person of character, integrity and moral excellence." You may purchase tickets to the banquet at the Cabe Land Office or at First State and Firstar banks. Please remember the Chamber is soliciting names for Teacher of the Year and Citizen of the Year.
