James WilliamsPublished Wednesday, December 12, 2001 in the Nevada County PicayuneJames W. "Willie" Williams, 70, of Prescott, passed from this life on November 30, 2001, in the University Hospital in Little Rock. Williams was a long time resident of Nevada County, worked for the Prescott Housing Authority, served as a police officer, served in the military with a tour in Korea, landing him in a conflict, and served in Vietnam for three years. While he was in Vietnam, he was with the Special Forces and was proud to represent the Green Beret. During his military service, he received numerous medals. He received his Special Forces training in Bad Tolz, Germany. He loved our country's freedom most of all. Williams is survived by one son: Russel J. Williams; four daughters: Donna Lynn Jones, Danna M. Zitano, Tracy C. Laughard, and Julie Edwards; and nine grandchildren. Memorial services will be Wednesday, December 12, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church in Hope. Full Military Honors will follow the services at the Prescott National Guard Armory. Arrangements were made by the Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.
