Katie BrooksPublished Wednesday, December 12, 2001 in the Nevada County PicayuneKatie O. Goad Brooks, 86, died in a local hospital in Hot Springs on December 4, 2001. She was born June 28, 1915, in Emmet. She was a retired owner/operator of Cliffs Restaurant. She was of Baptist Faith and was in the Order of Eastern Star, Emblem Club and VFW Post 2278. She was predeceased by her husband, C.J. Brooks; and three brothers, Leland Goad, Lewie Goad, Howell Goad. Survivors include: one daughter, Rosemari Jones of Hot Springs; two grandsons, William J. Jones III of Poplarville, Mo., and Craig Jones of Atlanta, Ga; two sisters, Ruby Beavert of MacPherson, Kan., and Catherine Cunningham of South Bend, Ind. Services were at 3 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2001, at Crestview Cemetery. Visitation was 4-9 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2001, at Hot Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating was Chaplain Bob Sowell and Chaplain Katherine Reed and Chaplain Marilyn Lightner. Burial was in Crestview Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ralph Walsh III, Bobbie Walsh, Pat Walsh IV, Brack Walsh, Bo Bradley, Flo Bradley, Jimmie Beavert, Glo Beavert, Buddy Brooks, Richard Dunn, Norma Dunn, Lister Rednour, Connie Rednour and Cliff Caughman. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Marc Rogers, Elaine Mays, Dr. Brenda Ketcher, Hot Springs Internal Medicine, Dr. Robert Johnson, Dr. Kim Agee, Dr. Jerry Barnes, Dr. Robert McCrary, Dr. Bethaney McGraham, ER staff and staff of St. Joseph's.
