The time has finally come for Christmas in Gurdon. This Friday, December 7, the fun will start on Main Street.

Main Street will be blocked off around 4:15 p.m. for the band stand to be set up in front of First State Bank.

At 4:30 Christmas in Gurdon will officially be kicked off with Christina Daniels singing Christmas songs.

Also scheduled to perform before the parade will be Robin McDowell and her fourth grade choir from Gurdon Primary School, Elizabeth Shepherd and Sandra Hitt with the Gurdon High School Choir.

The parade will begin at 6 p.m. Several entries have already been turned in and several are expected to be in this week. Everyone is encouraged to enter the parade. Monetary prizes will be given to the top three floats, cars and four-wheelers.

As soon as the parade is over Van Williams and a group of children from the New Mt. Zion Baptist Church will perform on the Main Band Stand.

Following the performance Mayor Clayton Franklin will address the town.

Several businesses in Gurdon are members of the Chamber of Commerce. These particular businesses have boxes in them for shoppers to enter in the drawing that will be held after Mayor Franklin's speech. Please remember to drop your name in the box at all participating businesses.

This year there will also be several church groups and other organizations selling funnel cakes, hot chocolate, coffee, cookies and cider. These booths will be set up in the drive through of Firstar Bank.

New Chamber members, Timeless Treasures Photography, will also be set up to take pictures of the children with Santa.

Be sure and join everyone for the fun and excitement of Christmas in Gurdon this Friday night.
