The meeting of the Gurdon Water and Sewer Commission was short and to the point.

Unfortunately, water and sewer department manager, Harold Hurst was absent due to illness.

The four commissioners present, Don Morehead, Jim Vance, Jim Hatley and Glen Hughes. The new generator issue will remain on the back burner until specifications are complete. Plans are still in place to purchase the generator to prevent the interruption in services experienced during last year's ice storm.

They reviewed the monthly statements, with Morehead briefly commenting on the need to roll over one of the deposits into a CD at the bank.

Debra Shaver, department secretary/bookkeeper, was ready to make the changes as soon as it was mentioned.

Short comment was made in questioning the performance of the newest member of the department, Josh McClure. Shaver said he was working out fine. Also, the crew is working on reading meters.

Special attention was drawn to the new payment window's blind. Shaver commented on how well it was all working.

Hughes reported a few of his constitutes were pleased with the window's efficiency.

The fully functioning payment window has been successful without yet having a ribbon cutting or other public announcement. The public is encouraged to put it to good use.
