Robert Muldrew Jr., 18, of Prescott, has been charged with breaking and entering and theft of property.

According to court records, the Nevada County Sheriff's Office was notified to be on the lookout for a brown station wagon as it had reportedly stopped at a wrecked abandoned vehicle on Highway 174, where the driver allegedly removed items from the wrecked car.

Prescott Police Officer Ann Jordan, who was off-duty at the time, saw a brown station wagon in the area of Prescott High School driving recklessly.

Jordan ran a check on the license plate, identifying the driver as Muldrew.

Morris Irvin, criminal investigator with the Prescott Police Department, located the suspect, who had turned into a driveway and was unloading a Styrofoam cooler, stereo equipment and two large speakers.

Irvin also noticed a knife partially exposed in Muldrew's left pocket. A search of the suspect turned up a large kitchen knife, a box knife and three screwdrivers.

Muldrew told Irvin he had been joyriding, but Irvin saw the steering column of the vehicle had been damaged and took the suspect to the sheriff's office, where he was placed under arrest.

During questioning, according to the records, Muldrew said a person he knew only as "Jay", went to Tim Ashbrook Auto and "popped the lock on a Caprice."

"Jay" reportedly came back and picked up Muldrew and Chris Hopper. This vehicle was abandoned in Shover Village in Hope, where a second vehicle was stolen.

The second vehicle is the one found wrecked on Highway 174.

Muldrew and Hopper allegedly caught a ride back to Prescott, where a third vehicle was reportedly stolen.

Muldrew allegedly then went back to the second vehicle where he got the stereo equipment.

The Caprice from Ashbrook's lot was found at Shover Village and returned to the car lot.

Muldrew is being represented by Danny Rodgers, public defender.

Breaking and entering is a class D felony, punishable by a sentence of up to six years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections and a fine up to $10,000.

Theft of property is a class C felony, with a sentence of 3-10 years in prison and a fine up to $10,000.
