Gurdon police arrest two local men on drug charges

Two Gurdon men were shocked and surprised on October 4 as the Gurdon Police Department, Clark County Swat team and the Group 6 Narcotics Enforcement Team busted down the door to the house they were in located on 502 Seahorn Street in Gurdon.

The owner of the home was not at the residence at the time of the entry. However, Winfred Burton, of Gurdon was in the residence along with Andre Barnes, also of Gurdon.

Gurdon City Marshall Don Childres said the arrest went well although one of the suspects ran through a window located at the back of the house. The window was closed at the time and the blinds were down.

Stunned the suspect quickly jumped to his feet and attempted to escape. Gurdon Police officers soon apprehended the suspect on Miller Street in Gurdon, which is just a few streets over from Seahorn Street.

Both Barnes and Burton are being held in the Clark County Jail awaiting arraignment.

Barnes has been charged with possession of marijuana. Burton has been charges with possession of crack cocaine.

Childres reported other individuals present in the residence at the time of the arrest who were searched along with the residence, but later released when found to be clean.
