Recently three 4-H members from Clark County were chosen as ambassadors for 4-H.

These three were added to the already 43 ambassadors.

Ambassadors for 4-H are chosen by their involvement, knowledge of 4-H, leadership abilities, commitment to 4-H, and integrity.

The three ambassadors chosen were Robin LeMay, Justin Mallett and Justin Land.

LeMay has proved herself as an outstanding 4-H member.

Since LeMay has been chosen as an Ambassador, she has spoken at the Clark County Extension Homemakers Club meetings. She was also invited to give a tribute to Dr. Barbara Holt at the meeting of the Business Women of Clark County. LeMay is also very involved with school and is part of the Homecoming Court for this year's Gurdon Homecoming.

Mallett has been involved with 4-H almost all of his life and enjoys participating in all 4-H activities.

Since Mallett has been an ambassadors he has participated as counselor at Forestry & Wildlife Camp, he has attended Poultry Science and Youth Conference, Teen Leader Conference, Farm Bureau Teen Challenge, he has become a HOBY ambassador, he also placed as second place high individual at the Forestry 4-H State O'Rama.

Land has also been involved with 4-H almost his entire life. Being a 4-H ambassador has kept Land busy. Land, like Mallett, also attended the Teen Leader Conference.

In November he will attend the National 4-H Congress. This year Land was the State Record Book Winner. This means Land kept pictures, ribbons and other information on all the events he's attended this year. Land also placed fourth at the State 4-H O'Rama for Horticulture.

All three ambassadors assist with statewide 4-H programs such as the Teen Leader Conference, Awards of Excellence Banquet, District and State 4-H O-Ramas, Arkansas State Fair and Livestock Show and 4-H ambassador workshops.

Responsibilities of being an ambassador means they could be called on at any time help with 4-H events.

They are to promote 4-H leadership at every event possible. They show leadership and help younger members appreciate what 4-H is all about.

To become a 4-H ambassador these three had to fill out a seven-page application to first become a teen star. On the application they had to answer questions on leadership and tell their experiences with 4-H.

Next week is National 4-H week. If you would like more information on joining 4-H you may call (870)246-2281.
