Over 1,250 teams are expected to participate in the 1999 Hoopfest three-on-three basketball tournament June 12 and 13 in the streets of downtown Little Rock.

"The Prescott area has always had a large number of teams participate in Hoopfest the past 11 years," said Valentine Hansen, founder of Hoopfest. "....We are always excited to see the teams from Prescott come to Little Rock and do well."

The 1998 tournament drew 1,150 teams from 420 different cities and 19 states, making it the fifth largest three-on-three tournament in the country.

Over 4,700 players and 500 volunteers were involved in last year's event, attracting nearly 50,000 spectators and raising $35,000 for local charities. Hoopfest has given local charities over $475,000 during the past 11 years.

Each team consists of three players and a substitute.

Entry fee is $94 if received by May 21 or $99 after May 21. Final deadline is June 1.

A new addition to Hoopfest this year is the exciting addition of the Hoopfest web site: hoopfest.com This will allow players to check new information, see court location and see pictures of past winners.

Entry forms for Hoopfest are available by calling Valentine Hansen at 501-663-4667 or visit the Hoopfest website.
