Odie Young, 89, of Whelen Springs, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001.

Young was a truck driver and member of Spring Hill Baptist Church of Whelen Springs.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Artie Bell-Young; two children, Verda Marie Young and Alvin Young.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Alice Walker of Gurdon; nine sons, Marvell Young of Independence, La., Ozell Young of Blytheville, Calvin Young of Rockford, Ill., Eddie Lee Young of Fort Wayne, Ind., Ivory Young, Sr., of Whelen Springs, Freddie Young of Malvern, Rev. Alfonzo C. Young of Prescott, Raymond Lee Young of Prescott, and Charlie R. Young of Little Rock.

Services were held Saturday, July 28, at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church. Arrangements made by Williams Funeral Home in Arkadelphia, with Rev. Troy Hearne officiating. Burial followed in Springhill Baptist Cemetery in Whelen Springs.

The family appreciates the many kindnesses during their time of grief.
