Vergil Watson, 87, of Hope died Tuesday, July 24, at Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas.

Watson was born June 30, 1914, in Hempstead County to W.F. and Janie Elizabeth Hatch Watson.

He was a retired farmer and truck driver and member of Southside Baptist Church of Hope. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Walston Watson, two brothers, Orville and Carl; and one sister, Martha Orr.

Survivors include one daughter, Virginia Ginny' Copelin and Jim of Mena; three brothers, Robert C. Watson of Hope, Elbert Buddy' Watson of Texarkana and Samuel Leon Watson of Arkadelphia; one sister, Lula Belle Cooley of Hope; five grandchildren, Mark B. Nix of San Antonio, Texas, Jams S. Nix of Mena, Sharon Sorenson of Lordsburg, New Mexico, Angela Avard of Texarkana, Texas and Alice Copelin of Galveston, Texas and eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, many nieces and nephews. He was loved by all.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 28, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel in Hope with Rev. Elmer Grant officiating. Burial followed in the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hope under the direction of Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope.
