RedlandHazel MeeksPublished Wednesday, April 21, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune Boy, my electric blanket has really been used the past few days, but I feel so sorry for the man I told you about last week, whose wife took his blanket off. Linda and Paul Ghormley had their two sons visiting them over the weekend. Joe and his wife Courtney and Tom all from Little Rock. Joe will be finishing law school May 15 and they will soon be moving to Tulsa, Okla. Betty and Jim Roberson from Dallas visited her mother, Lucy Taylor, at Hillcrest on Tuesday. They also visited her Aunt Donnie Rinkle and brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Faye Taylor. Neil's sister, Jerri Davis, from Stephens and our niece, Sharon Leachman, from Ventress, La., visited Neil and me on Thursday. George and Joy Cox honored their daughter, Lisa Pennington, on her birthday with a dinner on Thursday night. Danny, Kyle and Caley attended. Neil's brother, Doyle, and his daughter, Donna, and Werner Schmidt from Longview, Texas, visited us on Saturday. Many of you will remember the late Leevis and Almeda Holder. Word has been received of the death of their grandson, Dennis, in Antioch, Calif. Wynell McDaniel from Monroe, La., and Deanie Luck from Mt. Pleasant, Texas, are spending this week with their mother, Francis Bidwell. Paul and Kim Cox honored their daughter, Katy, on her 12th birthday with a party at their home on Sunday afternoon. About 20 guests enjoyed cake, ice cream and an afternoon of basketball. About 45 from Shady Grove Baptist Church enjoyed a day of picnicking, fishing, playing ball and just visiting at the beautiful home of Lorie and Bobby Pilgreen in Bluff City on Saturday. Katy Cox competed in a solo and ensemble contest Friday at Magnet Cove. She received a rating of one on her solo. Her duet with Samantha Gordon also received a rating of one. I was asked by the caretaker and committee of Liberty Cemetery to ask and really require families of loved one's buried at Liberty not plant live flowers on graves, because it is impossible to mow around the flowers and we do appreciate the wonderful job our caretaker does.
