School elections approachingAutumn PenningtonPublished Wednesday, July 18, 2001 in the Gurdon Times On June 20th, anyone planning to run for school elections started soliciting petitions. Rhonda Williams, Clark County Clerk, said it is required to have 20 eligible names on a petition for it to be valid, but to be on the safe side go ahead and get 25. Williams said, "Sometimes people move and do not realize their zone has changed. This causes some petitions to be invalid." The deadline for turning in eligible petitions is August 6th. Early voting will be held on September 4th. Regular elections will be held on September 18th. Those who are not registered to vote can do so at the court house in the county clerk's office. Although the deadline for registering is August 20th to be eligible to vote in the school election.
