School district has jobs open

Some positions are still available with the Gurdon School District.

The Gurdon School Board held a special meeting Tuesday, July 3, mostly in executive session due to the meeting's subject content  personnel.

While in executive session the board elected to hire Rebekah Spite as the new first grade teacher. Tammy Rettinger was hired to fill the position of Chapter 1 teacher.

The Gurdon Primary School will have a new music teacher next year. Robin McDowell will be filling the space left open from Jerry Don Childers's retirement. McDowell is known in Gurdon for teaching piano for many years.

The Cabe Middle School's new Chapter 1 math teacher is Teri Dillard. Dillard has lived in Gurdon all her life and is a Gurdon High School Alumni.

Keri McQuistion has moved from her current position to fill the opening as a sixth grade teacher.

Amy Gibson will be taking Higgs's place as Social Studies and English teacher at Gurdon High School. Gibson is a 1995 GHS grad.

There will be a new assistant coach on the field this fall. Coach Robert Poole's position was filled by Coach Hargrove from Stamps.

The following positions are still available: curriculum coordinator for the district, fifth grade teacher and librarian for the high school.
