Elzie L. EvansBrazzel/Cornish Funeral HomePublished Wednesday, July 11, 2001 in the Nevada County Picayune Elzie L. Evans, 73, of Prescott, died Friday, July 6, 2001, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope. Evans was born August 3, 1927, in Prescott, to Lee Otis and Bessie Smith Evans. He was a retired millwright in the maintenance department at Potlatch, and member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Florence Evans of Prescott; one son, Junior Lee Evans of Pensacola, Fla., two daughters, Shirley Smith of Tampa, Fla., and Sandra Evans-Tatum of Bossier City, La., two brothers, Roy Dale Evans of Rockford, Ill., and Otis Evans of South Carolina; six sisters, Mae Cherry of Ft. Worth, Texas, Murpheline Bell, Murel Hill, Shirley Smith and Eloise Dickey all of Rockford, Ill., and Mary Dell Walker of Atlanta, Ga., five grandchildren, Lesa Simpson of Okolona, Eric Evans of Pensacola, Fla., Cory Smith of Colorado Springs, Colo., Elvin Gulley of Prescott and Jereme Tatum of Bossier City, La., one great-grandchild, Alexis Smith of Colorado Springs, Colo., and one living uncle, Louis Smith of Prescott. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 10, at the Ward Chapel AME Church in Prescott with Rev. Ivory Curry officiating.
