Sale barn a busy placeAutumn PenningtonPublished Wednesday, July 4, 2001 in the Gurdon Times Has anyone noticed the changes taking place at the Clark County Livestock barn? Mike Cox purchased the barn in 1999. The barn held its first sale under new ownership on March 1st of that year. Since then, the barn has really made some improvements. Cox and his crew are working hard to keep the progress rolling and to interest everyone in Clark County and the surrounding areas to come see what is going on out there. Cox holds a hog and goat sale every Monday starting at 11 a.m. There are usually lots to chose from and draws a crowd. However, the main event is the cattle sale following at 1p.m. Every third Saturday night of the month the barn is busy with its horse sale. Cox said this has been a success for the barn so far. "It's hard to even find a parking spot on horse sale night. I could be wrong, but I would think that is a good sign." This past Saturday, June 22, the barn held an equipment auction with people from all the sounding counties bringing in items to be sold. Such items included bulldozers, tractors, boats of all kinds, tillers, hay bailors, trucks, old police cars, log trucks, and other farm equipment. Cox said he hoped the next sale, which will be this fall, is as big of a success as this one was. The livestock barn now has a feed store located to the left of the barn. This feed store handles different types of feed and tack. The feed store is also very convenient because it is open Monday 9 a.m. till 5 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to noon and Sundays from noon until dark. If there are have any questions about sales or any other events going on out at Clark County Livestock, give Cox a call at (870) 246-9464.
