Effie Jane Rather, 86 of Delight, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Hot Springs.

Rather was born October 9, 1914, in Antoine to Willie and Georgia Nidy Blakely.

She was a homemaker, member of the First Baptist Church in Delight and member of the Senior Citizens Center in Murfreesboro.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Rather; one son, Ricky Rather; one granddaughter, Lisa May; one grandson, Joey Rather and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Darrell Rather of Delight and Terrell Rather of Murfreesboro; three daughters, Bamer Craig and Opal May both of Delight and Vicki Goodson of Fouke, 21 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 15, at the First Baptist Church in Delight with Rev. Luther Lott and Rev. Freeman Henderson officiating. Burial followed in the Pisgah Cemetery in the Pisgah community under the direction of Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.
