Dixie Baseball Season Opens

The Prescott Vipers Dixie boys baseball season started on Monday, April 16. The team played at Hope against a good Bancorp South team. The Vipers ended up losing to Bancorp South 9-3.

Next, the Vipers faced a strong Randy's team from Hope on Thursday, April 19, at Hope. The Vipers produced four runs in the top of the first, which proved to be enough to defeat Randy's 4-3.

Ryan Roberson was injured in the game and had to be taken to the hospital, where he was released later that night with a strained neck and shoulder.

Monday, April 23, Lewisville came to Prescott. The Vipers won this game 6-5.

Five players had hits with Mitchell Taylor going 3 for 3.

Next, the Vipers, who are sponsored by Dr. Charles A. Vermont, played another tough Prescott AllCare team. The game went the full seven innings with the Vipers coming out on top 4-1. Five players had hits in the game with Joseph Gulley going 3 for 3, Roger Muldrow going 2 for 3, and Cody Brown hitting a home run.

Monday, May 7, the Vipers traveled to Bradley to face a strong 5-1 team. The game was stopped due to rain in the top of the second with Prescott on top 6-3. This game will be made up in a double-header Monday, June 4, when Bradley comes to Prescott.

Thursday of the same week the Vipers travled to Taylor. Again Prescott came away with a victory by

defeating Taylor 12-4.

Seven players had hits with Mitchell Taylor going 3 for 3 and Matthew Hodges hitting a triple.

Then it was back home for a game with a good Bancorp South team that had already defeated Prescott in an earlier game. This time with home field advantage, the Vipers came out on top with a score of 7-3.

Five players had hits with Matthew Hodges going 3 for 3 and A.J. Lewis hitting an in-the-park home run.

The next game was also in Prescott, with the Vipers facing Randy's from Hope. This game was an up and down battle with Prescott coming out on top by a score of 8-5.

Six players had hits, including Aaron Bullock, who went 2 to 3.

Team players are as follows: Cody Brown, Aaron Bullock, Joseph Gulley, Matthew Hodges, Andre Lewis, Eric Marlar, Roger Muldrow, Ryan Roberson, Mitchell Taylor, Cody Thompson, Tim Webb and Layne Wilson. Coaches are Steve Roberson, Roy Hodges and Felix Wiley.
