Ingram Able To Return Home

Published Wednesday, May 23, 2001 in the Nevada County Picayune

On May 11 Naomi Ingram, 70 years of age, of Prescott returned home after being at Beverly Healthcare Nursing Center since February 12.

Ingram was admitted to Beverly Healthcare from Healthsouth Rehab Hospital after having a traumatic amputation of her right leg.

She battled the hardship of losing her leg and learning how to function in everyday situations. The Beverly Healthcare therapy department began working with Ms. Ingram five times a week on strengthening and balance. When she accomplished those goals Ingram was fitted with a prosthetic leg.

Beverly Healthcare's physical and occupational therapist began working with her on a new set of goals that involved working with the new leg and simulating a home environment to enable her to become independent of her daily living skills.

Once she accomplished the goals set for her, the therapists did a home evaluation to access her ability to maneuver within her own home environment.

Ingram walked out of Beverly Healthcare Nursing Center on May 11 to return home. She is truly an inspiration for anyone of any age.
