Barton, Marcum Wed In NLR Ceremony

Wedding vows were exchanged between Kristi Marcum and Toby Barton at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 24, at Cedar Heights Baptist Church in North Little Rock. Bro. Tom Mitchell of Little Rock officiated.

Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Roger Marcum of North Little Rock. Great aunt of the bride, Vera Oglesby, of Conway was escorted as a grandparent.

Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Barton of Prescott. Grandparents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Russell Barton of Antoine and the late Harvey and Clyda McKinnon of Prescott. Close friend of the groom, Granny Claudie Bowden, of Russellville was escorted as a grandparent.

The sanctuary was decorated with a 15-branch arch candelabra in the center, adorned with red roses, ivy and tulle. This arched candelabra was surrounded by two heart shaped candelabras on either side, also adorned with ivy and tulle. Placed on either side of the stained glass window were tall white columns topped with Boston ferns. Boston ferns topped the wooden panel in front of the baptistry and continuously across the wooden panels in front of the organ and piano. The unity candle was adorned with tulle and ivy. Pews were decorated with tulle bows, accented with sprengerri and white lilies.

A program of wedding music was performed by Karen Mitchell, organist. The Parents Prayer was sung by soloist Kim Stubbs of Conway. To Be was sung by soloist Esther Baldwin of Little Rock. I Will Be There was sung by soloist Ashley DeWoody of Little Rock during the lighting of the unity candle.

The bride, presented for marriage by her father, chose a gown of white satin designed by Gloria Vanderbilt. She spaghetti strap bodice had an empire capped sleeve jacket with the ending of fabric in Battenburg lace design enhanced with pearls. The bride wore a fingertip veil with a headpiece of pearls, flowers and sequins.

She carried a cascading bouquet of Charlotte red roses, accented with green ivy, silver ribbon and long string pearls.

Terri Ausbrooks of Conway, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Shaunna Petty of North Little Rock, Elizabeth Carter of Little Rock, Shanna Harris of Conway and Kim Parker of Little Rock.

They wore formal matching gowns made by Molly Chapman of England. The gowns were made of bright red bridal satin. They featured a sleeveless top with round necklines, the separate skirt was gather in the back with a floor length finished hem. The bridesmaids carried bouquets of white lilies with silver ribbon, pearls and tulle bows. Their attire was accented by pearl necklaces and earrings.

Flower girl was Miss Hannah Gottsponer of North Little Rock, cousin of the bride. She wore a white dress of matte satin with lace and roses. She carried a white wicker basket accented with silk miniature red roses and red satin ribbon. The basket was filled with red rose petals.

Toby Barton, the groom, was served by Ryan Traczewitz of Prescott as best man. Groomsmen were Jeff Gober of Prescott, Chad Cooper of Conway, Chad Martin of Conway and Corey Mitchell of Conway.

Ringbearer was Brian Harris of Prescott, cousin of the groom. Brian's black tux and red accessories matched the groom.

Ushers were Greg Marcum, brother of the bride, of North Little Rock, Sammy Lowdermilk, cousin of the groom, of Henderson, Tenn., Chuck Champlin of Austin and Michael Clark of Conway.

Erin Gottsponer of North Little Rock attended the guest registry. Bethany Gottsponer of North Little Rock and Kellen Stockton of Prescott distributed the wedding programs.

The reception was held in the church fellowship hall. The room was decorated with white lattice panels, enhanced with tulle and ivy.

The bride's table featured a white base, three separate tier cake. The cake was decorated with red roses. The roses formed a heart shape on each layer except the top one, which was adorned with a white silhouette bride and groom surrounded by a clear heart and tulle. The bride's table was covered with white satin and lace overlay.

The groom's table featured a rectangle shaped chocolate cake which read "Your Hunting Days Are Over." There was also a three-tier cheesecake stand at the opposite end of the table. It held lemon, plain with strawberry and chocolate-vanilla swirl. Also served were nuts and chocolate dipped strawberries.The centerpiece on the groom's table was a two-tier candle holder with lit pine cone-shaped candles. Circled around it were several framed hunting and fishing pictures of the groom. The table was covered by a beige tablecloth and a camouflage overlay. The back drop for the groom's table was lattice overlaid with camouflage on one end and several hunting articles. The right end was overlaid with fishing net and strings of fish and fishing tackle.

The buffet table was decorated with white gathered tablecloth accented with red roses, ivy, pearls and silver ribbon at the top of each tulle swag. The table top was covered with a red runner. The centerpiece was a fresh fruit three-tier cascade topped with a fresh pineapple top. All the various food items were served on crystal or silver serving dishes, filling the two table buffet.

Red fruit punch was served from a three-tier silver punch fountain. The table was covered by a white cloth and topped with a red overlay, scalloped around the table's edges were white tulle swags, red roses, silver ribbon, pearls and ivy.

The gift table held a large silver vase filled with white glads and bear grass. Circled around the vase were framed assorted poises of the bridal portrait.

The picture tables, filled with photos of all sizes, represented the bride and groom's early lives up to the wedding day. The table was accented by containers of real ivy.

As you entered the fellowship hall the bride's portrait stood on an easel, flanked by a Boston fern and a table holding the register book.

There were red candles in silver and crystal placed throughout the fellowship hall. Boston ferns accented the corner spaces.

The reception attendants were Bessie May of England, Kay Evans, Pat Prince and Kristie Darcey all of Little Rock and Vicki Gottsponer of North Little Rock. The caterer was Maude Hinton of Prescott.

Bird seed bags were distributed by Hannah Gottsponer, cousin of the bride, and Caitlin and Kellen Stockton and Shelbi Cottingham, cousins of the groom, all of Prescott. They carried a white wicker basket, accented with miniature red silk roses and silver ribbon.

Following a short honeymoon trip to Eureka Springs and Branson, Mo., the couple resides in Conway. The groom is employed with Bartlett and West Engineering of Little Rock. The bride is employed with Retina Associates, P.A., of Little Rock.

Social Events Honoring the Wedding Couple

A kitchen shower was given for Kristi Marcum and Toby Barton January 12 at the home of Toby's Aunt Belinda McKinnon in Prescott. Hostesses were Aunt Belinda McKinnon, Aunt Mary Cobb and Aunt Judy Martin. Each family member attending brought recipes and the container to prepare it in.

On January 13 a Honey Do' party was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dalrymple Jr.. Hostesses were Lanora Dalrymple, Prissy Traczewitz, Roynelle Gober, Terri Vandiver and Meredith DeWoody. Toby's school friends were invited, so both male and females attended. They had a wonderful time of fellowship. A very nice barbecue grill with gas side burner was given by the hostesses. Out of town guests were Chad Cooper and Elizabeth Carter of Conway and Ashley DeWoody of North Little Rock.

On Sunday, January 14, a miscellaneous shower was hosted by Toby's home church, Prescott Church of Christ. Refreshments served were beautifully decorated cake, punch, nuts and mints. The wedding couple were showered with many nice gifts. The hostess gift was a Sunbeam stand mixer. Out of town guests were Charlotte Marcum of North Little Rock, mother of the bride; Terri Ausbrooks of Conway, sister of the bride; Aunt Vera Oglesby of Conway; Aunt Vicki Gottsponer and daughter, Hannah, of North Little Rock; and Aunt Janette Streeter of North Little Rock; the groom's grandmother, Vera Barton; Aunt Wanda Sweiger; and cousin Janet of Antoine; Aunt Marion Cheek of Delight; Mary Cobb, aunt of the groom, from Texarkana; Gracey Leamons of Gurdon; Rachel Ward of New Boston, Texas; and Debbie Stuart of Nashville.

On Saturday, January 27, a miscellaneous shower was given by the bride's family at the home of her sister, Terri Ausbrooks of Conway. Hostesses were Terri, Vera Oglesby, Doris Owens and Vickie Gottsponer. A wonderful buffet a finger foods and deserts was served. Tables were decorated with white, red and silver, the centerpiece being a silver candelabra with red candles. Out of town guests were Joan Barton, mother of the groom, of Prescott; and Judy Martin of Prescott and Mary Cobb of Texarkana, aunts of the groom.

A miscellaneous shower was given December 13 for the bride, Kristi, by the staff at Retina Associates, P.A., in Little Rock. Hostesses were Bessie May, Kay Evans and Pat Prince.
