Our pastor, Rev. Leslie Banks, had a good sermon on Mother's Day Sunday morning. A Mother's Day program was held after the sermon. The oldest mother was Mrs. Vena Burnell. The youngest mother was Pam Young. We had a very nice crowd. Visitors were Mrs. Benora Box, children and grandchildren. There were others that I do not know. James Elles Simpson, former member of New Salem AME Church of Little Rock and Therman Simpson, son and Clora B. Simpson, all of Mrs. Jay Heard's children were present but one.

Mrs. Pearlie Toney Paden passed away. She was born January 15, 1908, at Rosston. She united with the Bethel AME Church at the age 11 under the leadership of Rev. Daniel. She never missed paying cemetery dues. If she did not come she sent. She was the mother of nine children. Three preceded in her death. She had six living. She was an ideal mother. They really did take care of her.

Artie Velt Tidwell's funeral was held Saturday at 11 a.m. He was really put away nice. Lorice Tidwell Burse really did see after her daddy.

I made a mistake in last week's article. I meant the pastor Rev. Porcha is the pastor of Oak Grove. He is a wonderful pastor. They have a good crowd every Sunday.

Mrs. Verna Purifoy went to Dallas, Texas, to visit her sister and brother-in-law, Velma and Rev. Lupo Lee. They really do stick together. She will help anybody. She is a good person. She drove me to the doctor for a check-up last week. I am doing pretty good at present.

M-O-T-H-E-R:

I am sure all mothers had a wonderful Mother's Day Sunday.
