Local Log A Load Is RecognizedPublished Wednesday, May 16, 2001 in the Gurdon TimesArkansas Log A Load For Kids received special recognition at the national Log A Load convention in Snowbird, Utah, recently. The statewide forestry industry campaign was one of three honored by the Forest Resources Association Inc. The Arkansas program is one of 30 Log A Load programs across the country that raises money for Children's Miracle Network hospitals. Teresa Hunter of Monticello, Charles Pennington of Gurdon and Liz Tebbutt, Children's Miracle Network director, accepted the award that was given. The local event will be held this year on Saturday, June 9, at 2 p.m. at the Nevada County Fairgrounds in Prescott. A softball game will be held at 2 p.m., which will have Loggers playing against Potlatch/IP. A turtle race for children will be at 4 p.m. along with a prize for the best decorated turtle. A silent auction will be held, along with a dunkin' booth and guessing the weight of a loaded log truck. A fish/chicken meal, catered by Woods Restaurant, will be served at 5 p.m., with plates being $5 for adults and 12 and under free. A live auction will begin following the meal.
