Planning Begins For Health Fair

Members of Prescott/Nevada County Health Alliance recently met to begin organization and plans for the fifth annual Health Fair to be held Saturday, September 8, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Janet McAdams has been selected to coordinate this year's fair.

Last year's health fair had the largest participation yet with between 400 and 500 persons participating.

Officers for the group are Mary Alice Blevins, Health Alliance coordination; Prissy Traczewitz, secretary; and Candace Carrie, treasurer. This team will work closely with McAdams and other members of the alliance to help make this year's Health Fair a success.

The health alliance is made up of interested medical personnel and other support groups in and around Nevada County who wish to promote good health.

Each year a day of free health screening is provided to anyone who wishes to attend. Once again the Red Cross Bloodmobile will be on site to accept much needed blood donations.

The Health Fair is an educational opportunity as well as a day of fun for all ages with lots of give-aways.

The group is recruiting participants for the up-coming event and would like to encourage area businesses and organizations to contact McAdams or Blevins concerning their participation and the event or booth they would like to sponsor.

The next meeting for the group will be June 12 at 1:00 a.m. at the Broadway Cafi. Anyone wishing to attend is invited and members are urged to attend. The alliance welcomes new ideas and participants as it begins to finalize plans and work for the 2001 Health Fair.
