College NewsPublished Wednesday, May 16, 2001 in the Nevada County PicayuneStacy Bingham, a senior at Nevada High School, has been awarded a foundation scholarship to Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia. The four-year scholarship includes resident tuition as a full-time student and room in the university residence halls. Bingham plans to major in accounting. She is the daughter of Don and Barbara Bingham of Rosston. Several Prescott students graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville Saturday, May 12. Those graduating included: Ryan M Hobbs, who received his bachelor of science in computer systems engineering degree from the College of Engineering; Steven C Sheets, bachelor of science in agricultural, food and life sciences, animal science, Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food And Life Sciences; and Vicki Suzanne Vasser, master of business administration, business administration, Graduate School; William Scott Virden, bachelor of science in agricultural, food and life sciences, poultry science, Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food And Life Sciences. Chancellor John A. White announced the class of 2001 at the university had more than 2,400 graduates. These students include those who completed their degree requirements last summer and this past December. Josh Bullock, a senior at Prescott High School, has accepted an academic scholarship to the University of Central Arkansas beginning this fall. UCA awards academic scholarships, renewable for four years, based on ACT score and class rank, as well as National Merit and National Achievement competition. Bullock will receive a trustees scholarship to attend UCA. The scholarship provides $7,500 a year. He is the son of Leslie and Debbie Bullock. Kyle Holleman, a senior at Nevada High School, has been selected as a recipient of the Roy J. Sharp Scholarship, awarded by the National Association of Postmasters of the United States. Holleman is the son of Leo and Carolyn Holleman of Rosston. The scholarship is awarded annually to the child of a postmaster. Mrs. Holleman is the postmaster at Chidester. The scholarship was presented to Kyle on April 26 at the NAPUS State Convention in Hot Springs. He plans to attend Southern Arkansas University in the fall and major in history.
