Ward Family Reunion Planned

A family reunion is planned on June 8 and 9 for all descendants of Elisha

Ward, who was born in 1773 in North Carolina. A social event for the reunion will be held June 8 at 6:00 p.m. at the Exacta Inn in Minden, La.

On June 9 the main reunion event will take place at the Frank Anthony Park meeting room in Springhill, La., starting at 9:00 a.m.

Elisha Ward and his wife, Jane Washington Ward, came to Union Parish around 1840. Their children were David Ward (m. Cynthia Seale), Margaret J. Ward (m. Elijah M. Auld), Mary Caroline Ward (m. Richard Gee), Eliza Jane Ward (m. George W. Solomon), and Elisha Ward Jr. (m. Elizabeth Meeks).

These families lived in Union Parish

and surrounding parishes for many years.

John Washington Ward, son of Elisha Ward Jr., moved with his family from Webster Parish, La., to

Prescott, Arkansas, around 1875. He and his wife, Medius Stone, were the

parents of James Ward, Marion T. Ward, William M. Ward, Flournoy B. Ward, Maggie Ward Smith, Dosha Ward Connell, Mattie Ward Hale, Julia Ward Munn, Laura Ward, and Elizabeth Ward Jones.

All of these persons lived in the

Prescott area for many years.
