State Police Stop Netsw 200-Lbs. Of PotBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, May 9, 2001 in the Nevada County Picayune A traffic stop on Interstate-30 resulted in the confiscation of 200 pounds of marijuana and the arrest of a Memphis, Tenn., man. According to reports from the Arkansas State Police, Trooper Darren Neal made the stop Tuesday, May 1, at about 6:25 p.m. at the 35 mile marker. The sole occupant was Rickie Samuelson, 45, of Memphis. The stop was made because Samuelson had been driving carelessly. He was cited for this. However, Neal had noticed irregularities with the bed of the truck as he approached and called for ASP Cpl. Jeff Thomas and his K-9 partner to come to the site. In addition, Cpl. Keith Sullivan was called in for backup. According to the report, Samuelson was cooperative when asked by the officers for permission to search the vehicle. Thomas and Sita, his K-9 partner, walked around the truck, a 1993 Chevrolet, with the dog hitting on an area at the right wheel well. A search was made, revealing a false floor under the truck bed, which contained some 200 pounds of marijuana. Samuelson was charged with possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, with intent to deliver, and taken to the Hempstead County Detention Center.
