Drug Lab Broken Up By CCSOBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, May 9, 2001 in the Gurdon Times An Amity woman has been charged with operating a drug lab. According to a release from the Clark County Sheriff's Office, Charlotte Nutt, 48, was arrested and charged with the manufacture of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver, namely methamphetamine. The release states officers of the State Adult Probation and Parole Services conducted an in-home inspection of Nutt's home after she had failed to meet conditions of her parole. In addition, officers had received information she had bought chemicals and paraphernalia known to be used in the manufacture of methamphetamine. At the time of the raid, Nutt was on parole for a 10-year sentence for possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine. This arrest was made by the CCSO with help from the U.S. Department of Tobacco and Firearms. On May 2, though, agents of the Group 6 Narcotics Enforcement Unit worked with the probation and parole officers to discover and seize the lab. Nutt is being held in the Clark County Detention Center at this time. The charge of manufacture of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, is a class Y felony, carrying a sentence of 10-40 years or life and a fine up to $10,000. Possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, is also a class Y felony. Nutt was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. This, in this case, is a class C felony, with a sentence of 3-10 years in prison. The fourth charge against Nutt was maintaining a drug premises.
