Willisville Class Reunion HeldPublished Wednesday, May 9, 2001 in the Nevada County PicayuneA grand time of reminiscing was enjoyed April 28 by 119 classmates and spouses of the Willisville School District spanning back from 1936 through the 1960s. Forty different persons were there who did not attend the last reunion five years ago. Six states were represented. The reunion was held at Western Sizzlin in Hope. Mrs. Ila Carpenter, a 90-year-old former teacher, was there as well as a host of her students. Denver Carpenter and his wife traveled the farthest distance from Seattle, Wash. Missed were Jim Dixon and his wife Mona. Jim is in St. Michael, recovering from heart surgery and pneumonia. Attending from Louisiana were Otto and Lois Stroop Black of Haynesville; James and Elaine Butler, Patsy Fincher Peek, Louie and Tootsie Rhodes Davis, Raymond and Margarette Rhodes, Gloria Sutherland and Charlie Upchurch of Shreveport; Joe Dixon of Lafayette; Aline Malone Young and daughter, Jane Adkins, of Houma. Others attending were Nathell Honea Fincher of Overland Mo.; Al Warmack of Pensacola, Fla.; Lynwood Warmack of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and Denver and Peg Carpenter of Auburn, Wash. Attending from Texas were Emogene Prescott Mashburn and Arthur and Linda Rollings DeLeon of Ft. Worth; Ronnie and Vera Dixon of Flint; Don and Ruby Waters Box of Rockdale; Texas: Jimmy Dixon of Cleveland; Tap Fore of Hurst; Royce Malone and daughter, Mary Arceneoux, of Hallsville; Marie McDonald Estes and Glenn and Margarette Herring Otwell of Houston; John and Sue McKissack Rogers of San Antonio; Burton and Theresa Rollings of Dallas; Troy and Wilma Bailey Simpson of Duncanville; Wilbert and Betty Beasley West of Longview; and Betty Young of Sealey. Naturally, the greatest number attending came from Arkansas. These included Thomas P. and Catherine Waters of Ashdown; Joe and Janice Cooper Penney of Ben Lomond; Richard and Madelyn Cross Knott of Benton; Travis Rogers of Bradley; William and Margaret Cross and Horace and Mary Lou Jarvis Smith of Camden; John Marlar of Dalark; and Robert Dixon of El Dorado. Others from Arkansas were Don and Gloria Dunn of Fayetteville; Canelia Hasley and Ervin and Ellen Comer of Hope; George and Mary Bailey Jett of Lewisville; Pete and Anna McDonald Rhodes, Nadine Ward, Dorothy Magee Storey and Edith Magee Shroeder of Little Rock; Virginia Honea Leapard of Mabelvale; Welton Bailey, Bob and Sybil Gillespie Cole and Kenneth and Marilyn Dixon of Magnolia; Hazel Honea Hale of Mt. Holly; and Bob and Drucilla Herring Fairchild of North Little Rock. Also attending were Everett and Anice Ward, Carroll and Hera Bailey Morehead, Nancy Prescott Cross and Margaret Ward Ivey of Prescott; and Betty Sue Dixon and Paul and Dot Smyth Broussard of Rosston. Arlis and Dorothy East attended from Sheridan, and Milburn and Carolyn Cooper Crawford came from Sherwood. Attending from Stephens were Charles and Cora McDonald Marlar, Gladys Thompson, Jack and Sybil Butcher Waters, Bob and Daisy Waters, Marvin and Yvonne Bailey Murry and Daisy Waters Rodgers Methvin. Patsy Honea Fincher, Sam and Lawana Mitchell Garrett and Patsy Simpson Pyka attending from Texarkana. Virginia Herring Callicott, Marcelle Herring Martin, H.I. and Ruth Herring Watkins and Johnnie and Elsie Sewell of Waldo were present; as was Ila Carpenter of Waterloo. Garry Ann Ingram Jones, Faye Warmack Black, Gaylon Waters, Sherry Simpson Montgomery, Jim and Daisy Malone Sullivant, Robert Bailey and Herbert Fore of Willisville were all present.
