Elvin A. 'Pete' AveryBRAZZEL / CORNISH FUNERAL HOME of PRESCOTTPublished Wednesday, May 9, 2001 in the Nevada County Picayune Elvin A. Pete' Avery, 81, of Prescott passed away Friday, May 4, 2001, at Baxter County Regional Hospital in Mountain Home. Mr. Avery was born on October 26, 1919, in Nevada County to Johnnie A. and Ora Lee Miller Avery. He was a retired master mechanic with Ozan Lumber Co., Potlatch and the Prescott and Northwest Railroad. He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the European Theater and recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a member of Central Baptist Church of Prescott. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jean Stokes Avery, who died in May 1996. Survivors include one son, Randy Avery of Rogers; one daughter, Vicki Brantly of Mountain Home; two brothers, Hudson Avery of Texarkana, Ark., and Billy Don Avery of Magnolia; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday, May 6, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott with Rev. Jerry Westmoreland and Rev. Chad Brandon officiating.
