Oak Grove NewsBY LULA Q. KENDRICKPublished Wednesday, May 9, 2001 in the Nevada County Picayune Make sure your priorities are in order. Yes you're busy, but keep making time for all the things that really matter your family, your church and the need of your community. After all, the values you live by determine the kind of person you will become, this year, next year and in all the years to come. I had surgery last Wednesday. I did not have much news. I am still taking it easy. I was pretty sick. I called the ambulance they took me to Medical Park Hospital, where I had surgery. I still can't do anything. I am trying to do like Dr. Williams told me to do. He told me to take it easy. He said I'm not a spring chicken. Janet Smith drove me to the hospital at 6 a.m. in the morning. She was there when I had surgery and also my nephew, Freddy Dixon, from Mineral Springs. I have some good nephews and nieces. Helen Jenkins called me once a week. She lives in Dallas, Texas. I have a nephew from Atlanta, Ga., one from Chicago. They are the closet relatives I have. My stepson lives in Portland, Ore. Mrs. Pearlie Toney Paden's funeral will be Saturday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Artie Velt Tidwell's funeral will be Saturday also at Oak Grove Baptist Church around 2 p.m. He died in St. Louis, Mo., where he had moved to be with his daughter. Bracy Tidwell has moved back to Rosston and is staying with his son, Calvin. He is doing fair. Sympathy goes out to the Tidwell family and the Toney and Paden families. Rev. Lupo and his wife, Velma, visited her sister last week from Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Vera Purifoy. Oak Grove pastor, Rev. E. Montgomery, visited me in the hospital. Sunday will be Mother's Day, of course. Everyday should be Mother's Day. Treat her like a mother. If you love her tell her so. Give her flowers while she still lives. Happy Mother's Day to all mothers, from your reporter.
