Nevada High's Top Seniors Are AnnouncedPublished Wednesday, May 9, 2001 in the Nevada County PicayuneGraduation exercises for the 2001Nevada High School seniors will be Thursday, May 17, at 7 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Senator Percy Malone of Arkadelphia will deliver the commencement address to the 45 seniors. The top graduates are listed as highest honors, high honors and honor graduates. Highest honor graduates have a grade point average of 4.00-3.80. Four students are graduating with highest honors. They are Timothy Potts, Stacy Bingham, Jason Yarbrough and Paul Patton. High honor graduates have a 3.79-3.60 grade point average. They are David Brown, Ashley Gentry, Hannah Ward and Ronetha Pearson. Honor graduates have a 3.59-3.40 GPA. These students are Lasheka Gulley, Geoffrey Box, Troy Green and Jennifer Eller. Timothy Potts is the son of Cynthie and Lewis Jackson. His school activities include FBLA three years; National Honor Society four years; baseball four years; art one year; and band four years. His honors include All-Region Band four years, and Future Business Leaders of America District competition winner three years. Stacy Bingham is the daughter of Don and Barbara Bingham. School activities include Art Club treasurer; student council president, Future Business Leaders of America, March of Dimes fund-raiser planner; Fellowship of Christian Athlethes, Drug Free Team; National Honor Society; softball; French club; gifted and talented; and Quiz Bowl. Her honors include DAR good citizen; Future Business Leaders of America District IV Who's Who top honors and first place marketing; Nevada's Who's Who, best personality; most respectable and most organized; homecoming maid; prom queen; and page for Senator Percy Malone. Jason Ryan Yarbrough is the son of Don and Sonja Yarbrough. School activities include Drug-free Team; Future Business Leaders of America; Fellowship of Christian Athletes; French club; Environmental Club; Future Teachers of America; Gifted and Talented; Quiz Bowl team; Library Club; National Honor Society; senior boys basketball and track; class offices: reporter, ninth grade; treasurer, tenth grade; president, eleventh and twelfth grades; local Nevada FBLA chapter president; National Honor Society treasurer, eleventh grade and president, twelfth grade; FCA president, eleventh grade; co-chairman of Nevada FBLA Otis Spunkmeyer cookie sale; yearbook staff and Mr. Nevada High School. His honors include first place in introduction to business communications at District 4; second place in future business leader at District 4; third place in entrepreneurship; academic honor graduate; Who's Who Among Nevada Students; Who's Who Among American High School Students; most improved play award, ninth grade; and rebounding award, tenth grade. Paul Patton is the son of June and Kevin Hamilton. School activities include baseball; Future Business Leaders of American; Quiz Bowl; Gifted and Talented; Fellowship of Christian Athletes; National Honor Society; French Club; Drug-free Team; track; and basketball. His honors include honor roll, ninth-twelfth grades; end of the year academic award, all four years; highest batting average award, 11th grade; and Future Business Award for second place in business calculations, 12th grade, and third place entrepreneurship, 11th grade. David Brown is the son of William and Ola Brown. School activities include senior basketball, 10th and 12th grades; Future Business Leaders of America; French Club; National Honors Society; and Drug-Free Team. His honors include honors graduate and Who's Who Among American High School Students. Ashley Gentry is the daughter of Millie and John Knight and Gilbert Gentry. School activities include Future Business Leaders of America, four years; Fellowship of Christian Athletes, one year; Art Club, one year; Drug Team, one year; Beta Club, one year; band, one year; National Honor Society, three years; library club, one year; and FBLA March of Dimes coordinator, one year.Her honors include end of year academic award, four years; Future Business Leaders of America principles and procedures district competition, second place; FBLA desk top publishing district competition, first place; FBLA multi-media slide show district competition, third year; end of year multi-media award, one year; end of year certificate of appreciation award, one year; and honor roll, four years. Hannah Ward is the daughter of John and Rhonda Ward. Her honors include honor graduate; honor roll, four years; computer applications, first place 2001 district FBLA; desktop publishing, first place 2000 district FBLA; end of the year award 2000 desktop publishing; and end of the year certificate of appreciation 2000 National Honor Society. Ronetha Pearson is the daughter of Lee Pearson and Velma Pearson. School activities include Future Business Leaders of America; talent search; National Honor Society; Future Teachers of America; FCCLA; Library Club vice president; Student Council representative; Student Council secretary; Beta Club; and junior and senior basketball. Her honors include honor graduate, academic achievement award, hustle award, defensive award and all-district team. Lasheka Gulley is the daughter of Lannie Mae Gulley and Orlandus Tidwell. School activities include Fellowship of Christian Athletes; Drug-Free Team National Honor Society, Gifted and Talented, Talent Search, Future Teachers of America; and Future Business Leaders of America. Her honors include Honor Card recipient grades seventh-12th; Leadership Development Award; and second in Future Business Leaders of America District competition. Geoffrey Box is the son of Geoffrey and Georgia Box. School activities include basketball, track, baseball and cheerleader; Future Business Leaders of America; Fellowship of Christian Athletes; Talent Search; Drug-Free Team; environmental; National Honor Society; Future Farmers of America; and Future Homemakers of America. His honors include honor roll ninth-12th grades; end of year academic award ninth-12th; outstanding tracker ninth, 11th and 12th; most rebounds award; honor graduate; and Nevada Blue Jays 2001 basketball. Troy Green is the son of Dwight Green. School activities include Future Business Leaders of America and Art Club. Jennifer Eller is the daughter of Cindy Gresham. School activities: Art Club.
