Classy Moments from Cabe Middle SchoolPublished Wednesday, May 9, 2001 in the Gurdon TimesThe Cabe Middle School Student Council election is over. The candidates did an excellent job giving their speeches during the assembly Monday. Voting took place after lunch and the results are: Callie King, president, Destiny Talley, vice president, Heather Bland, secretary, Clayton Rainey, reporter, and Natalie Tarpley, parliamentarian. Eighth grade representatives are Sean O'Connell and Jason Wells. The seventh grade representatives are Josh Lockwood and Colton McClure. Representatives of the sixth grade are D.D. Davis, Tynesha Ivory and Tori Morehead. The yearbook for this school year was dedicated to Debbie Davies. The first copy was presented to her with "great surprise" at the assembly. The students stood as they applauded Mrs. Davies. It was one of those special moments being shared. Beta Club sponsored a pie in the face' contest. A vote of 25 cents for a teacher they wanted to see get the pie in the face had been conducted a week before. The winning teacher was Mrs. Butler. She was a great sport as Chris Ellar Thompson threw the pie with the greatest of ease. The new cheerleaders for school year 2001-2002 were introduced by their sponsor, Shea Leon. This will be the first year for Mrs. Leon to sponsor the cheerleaders, but she has the experience of a cheerleader, as she was a Gurdon cheerleader from her seventh and 12th grade. She has expressed how pleased she is with the squad and how willing they are to work. We look forward to great pep rallies. Those eighth graders have been reciting names of the Presidents. Some just zipped through, and others had to stop and think about it, but most accomplished the assignment. The eighth graders are anxious to get their caps and gowns, since they know the seventh grade ushers have been given theirs. Hopefully the others will come in next week. Graduation is Friday, May 25, at 6:00 p.m. in the Gurdon High School gym. You are invited to attend. The weather has been so nice for us as we work each day to make those Classy Moments at CMS.
