Inside Job Thwarted B Vigilant TruckersBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, May 2, 2001 in the Nevada County Picayune An "inside job" went awry when two people attempted to rob the Citgo station at Exit 46 recently. According to court records, Unarita Young, 20, Marvin Sims, 25, and Lee LaMarcus Harris, 18, all of Prescott, were arrested and charged with attempted robbery. This is a class C felony, carrying a sentence of 3-10 years in prison and a fine up to $10,000. Records state a call was made to the Nevada County Sheriff's Office around 3:25 a.m. Thursday, April 19, concerning the robbery. Two black males had entered the business, with one jumping the counter and attempting to open the cash register. Two truck drivers were in the dining area at the time, heard the commotion and went to investigate. As the truckers approached the counters, the suspects fled. In fact, they ran across the parking lot and down the entrance ramp where a car was parked. One of the men chasing them got the license plate number on the car and turned it in to the NCSO. The license returned to a Chevrolet owned by Young. Prescott Police Officer Larry Miller went to the Hale Ave. Apartments where the trio was known to frequent. They showed up about five minutes later and were arrested. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
