A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be in Prescott at the courthouse Thursday, May 24, and Thursday, June 28.

Supplemental Security Income pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind children. To find out if you are eligible call 1-800-772-1213.

Players, coaches and umpires are needed for the various age-group softball teams now forming. For more information call Bobbie Brown at 887-3430.

Homecoming will be held at White's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church between Willisville and Bodcaw Sunday, May 6, with services at 10:30 a.m.

Devotion will be by Jerry Evans and the message will be delivered by Bobby Joe Wright. Potluck will be served afterwards. Singing will be at 1:30 p.m.

Rosston Baptist Church youth will be having a fish fry fund-raiser Saturday, May 5, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Dinners will include fish, fries, slaw, beans, hush puppies, dessert and drink. All proceeds will go to help with expenses of summer activities.

The Prescott Alternative School will host the Chamber of Commerce coffee Thursday, May 3. The coffee will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the Ila Upchurch Community Center. Everyone is encouraged to attend and tour the building.

The Hope Quilters Guild will hold its monthly meeting Monday, May 7, in the Citizens National Bank conference room in Hope at 7 p.m. Programs are planned for each quilter's enjoyment. There will be a pre-Mother's Day program at Sweet Home Baptist Church May 6 during the morning service starting at 11:00. The speaker will be minister Alice Wilson of Gurdon Rev.

The descendants of Ben and Florence Wicker reunion will be held at the home of Jerry and Anita Wicker in the Morris community Saturday, May 5. Potluck lunch will be served. All relatives and friends are invited.

The Prescott District AIM musical concert will be held Friday night, May 4, at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ at 7:00.

The Prescott Choir, special groups and soloists will perform. Everyone is welcome. Mrs. Theolo Purifoy is the district minister and Leroy Sworn is the host pastor.

A bridal shower for Jay Cox and Heather Humphry will be May 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Crossroads Assembly of God Church near Delight.

New Liberty Baptist Church in Emmet will have a gospel music concert Saturday, May 12, at 7 p.m. featuring Renewal' praising Jesus in song.

There will be no charge for admission, but a love offering will be taken. For more information call 870-887-2888 or 887-1881.

The Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce is asking for help from local artists. Ida Haynie has purchased chickens (plastic) that need to be painted and decorated for the Chicken and Egg Festival. The chicks will then be put them around town in different businesses to promote the festival.
