GHS Golf Squad Wins RegionalPublished Wednesday, May 2, 2001 in the Gurdon TimesAfter winning the district tournament on April 5 the Go-Devils golf team traveled to Hope for the regional tournament. Gurdon was successful for the second year in a row winning the 4AA regional tourney. The state tournament, which was held at Hot Springs April 25 at the Belvedere Country Club. Gurdon finished third place overall in the State AA as a team. Team member Jordan Freer was a medalist at Hope regional and finished fourth individually at state. The golf team has had a great run the last three years, winning district all three years, regional two years in a row, and going to state three years in a row. Coach Ed Reece and assistant coach Max Brown congratulate their team. Team members include six seniors, Justin Smith, Greg Rhodes, Jordan Freer, Cody Cox, Corey Brown and Colby Pace; and two sophomores, Josh Utchman and Heath Griffin.
