Dr. Wells Is Honored

Dr. Denis J. Wells, D.D.S., is the recipient of the 2001 Presidential Award for Outstanding Contribution to American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD).

The award will be presented to Dr. Wells, a native of Gurdon, at the president's dinner dance during the AACD's 17th annual Scientific Session May 26 in Boston, Mass.

Dr. Wells is a graduate of Harding University and the University of Tennessee Dental School. He received his accreditation with AACD in 1994, and he has since served as an examiner for the AACD accreditation process. He is the founding president of the Tennessee chapter of AACD and he is an instructor for P.A.C. Live' aesthetic continuum in San Francisco, Calif.

Dr. Wells lectures internationally on cosmetic dentistry and practices in Nashville, Tenn., where he has designed the smiles of numerous celebrities in the music industry.

Dr. Wells is the 2001 chairman of the AACD conference advisory committee, which is responsible for the continuing education curriculum at AACD scientific sessions.

He has provided cosmetic dentistry for troubled teenagers at Mercy Ministries and supports Nashville's Interfaith Dental Clinic with donations and his clinical skills. He is a supporter of the Monroe Harding Children's Home in Nashville. Dr. wells is also a member of The Matrix Band, a collaboration of AACD dentists and world-renowned musicians who have teamed up to benefit the AACD's Give Back A Smile' program in the fight against domestic violence.

AACD is the largest international organization dedicated specifically to the art and science of cosmetic dentistry. Founded in 1984 the AACD's executive office is located in Madison, Wis.

Dr. Wells is the son of the late Billy Jack Wells.
