Red Springs EHC

Published Wednesday, September 15, 1999 in the Gurdon Times

The Red Springs Extension Homemakers Club met at the Gurdon Municipal Building for the September 9 meeting with 21 present. President Jean Toland presided over the business session. The devotional and prayer were given by Tootsie Dempsey.

The club voted to make neck pillows for the DeGray Kidney Dialysis Center in Arkadelphia as a community project. Plans were finalized for the club's exhibit and other activities in the county fair.

Tootsie Dempsey was voted at the club's outstanding member of the year based on her contributions to EHC during the year.

Our congratulations go to Trey Burchfield, son of Kathryn Burchfield, for becoming the top state 4-H reporter recently during the State 4-H O'rama.

Jean Toland, Kathryn Burchfield and Mary McBride served as judges at the Nevada County Fair August 31. Mary McBride judged the clothing September 8 at the Saline County Fair and Mary and Elizabeth Wilson will judge household arts September 27 at the Southeast District Fair in Pine Bluff. Betty Cook will conduct a Christmas place mat workshop at the October 14 meeting.

Mattie Talley and Joyce Rutherford served as hostesses over the potluck meal.

The meeting adjourned with reading the ten points for facing each day. One point is "I will get up in the morning thankful for what I have instead of asking for more."
