Chamber Works On FestivalBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, April 18, 2001 in the Nevada County Picayune With Easter out of the way, the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce is turning its sights on the Chicken and Egg Festival. This year's festival will be held Friday and Saturday, June 1-2, at the Prescott City Park. While most of the details for the festival aren't ready yet, there is already one new twist for the event. Ida Haynie, a resident of the Redland community, purchased and donated about 20 plastic chickens for the festival. These birds are hollow and typically are used as planters of a sort. However, local and area artists are being asked to come by the Chamber, pick up a bird and decorate it as they see fit for the festival. These chickens will be handed out on a first-come, first-serve basis and have to be given back by May 1. The decorated birds will then be displayed around town to help promote the festival.
