Rosston Man Facing 3 Felony ChargesBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, April 18, 2001 in the Nevada County Picayune A 21-year-old Rosston man faces three felony charges in connection with a disturbance at the home of Antonio Gulley on April 8. According to court records, Derrik Christopher went to Gulley's home and began causing trouble around 6:50 a.m. on the date in question. The Nevada County Sheriff's Office got a call on the disturbance shortly before 7 a.m., with deputy Heb Sorrells arriving around 8:45 a.m. Gulley told Sorrells Erik Haynie had let Tevia McKinney into the house and she came into Gulley's bedroom saying she needed to talk with him. Shortly thereafter Christopher arrived, broke the front door and entered the house. Records state Christopher threw McKinney to the floor and went after Gulley, who had gotten out of bed and pulled on a pair of pants. Christopher reportedly took a swing at Gulley with a tire tool, but missed. Gulley tackled Christopher, putting him on the bed and told him to leave. Christopher, according to records, made racial remarks toward Gulley and threatened to shoot him. However, he left, taking McKinney with him, after first removing the keys from her car and allegedly tossing them into some bushes. Statements taken from Haynie and McKinney corroborate Gulley's account of the incident. Christopher has been charged with residential burglary, a class B felony carrying a sentence of 5-20 years in prison and a fine up to $15,000. In addition, he has been charged with aggravated assault and terroristic threatening, both class D felonies. These charges carry a potential sentence of up to six years in prison and a fine not to exceed $10,000. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
