PARAPHERNALIA ARRESTPublished Wednesday, April 28, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneDennis Ray King, 36, of Cotton Plant, was arrested and charged with several offenses, including possession of drug paraphernalia. According to Sorrells, deputies Danny Martin and Larry Miller were working radar in the Willisville area around midnight Monday, April 19, when King was clocked driving 55 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone. He was stopped, but pulled onto the left side of the road. The deputies asked him to pull onto the right side, with King complying. When King was asked for his driver's license, he informed the officers they had been suspended. He also gave permission for the officers to search his car when asked. The deputies found a cigar with a green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana in it. This, Sorrells said, constitutes drug paraphernalia. King was charged with speeding, driving on a suspended license, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
