GPS Students Hatch EggsPublished Wednesday, April 18, 2001 in the Gurdon TimesBefore school's end GPS second grade teacher Beth Miller's class had an exciting experience. Miller received eggs from Tyson Hatchery. Two of these eggs hatched before she arrived at school. There were 28 other eggs for the second graders to observe. Riche' Clark, Carrie Burson, and Lea Purifoy, GPS second grade teachers, also had eager second graders to help bring these new chicks into the world. During the wait all the second grade classes had many visitors. It did not take long for the other grades to want to take a peek at this amazing process. The children were thrilled that every egg hatched. The chicks had homes to go to, as well. Every student in Miller's room took a chick home. It was a great learning experience and fun to watch.
