Golden OldiesDORIS VANCEPublished Wednesday, April 18, 2001 in the Gurdon Times I hope that everyone had a wonderful Easter. We really had a wet one. We, as individuals, should never forget what the meaning of Easter is, the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave his life for us. We have had a busy week at the center and has been lots of fun, also. The Cover Girls have finished the quilt we were working on and are ready to start another one. Royce Ann has really kept us busy. We've played an egg toss game, a clothes pin game, and have had many other activities. Several of our seniors have written poems. Most of last week our Easter Parade was being planned. Everyone was busy decorating their hats. Everyone did a good job, and the judges had a hard time picking a winner. The men competed as well as the ladies. Some of our sick ones are back with us. We really believe that if you would come and join us, that your would like it so much that you would want to come again. We will have singing Monday, with Doris Protratz playing the piano, and Daryl Protratz leading the singing. Mike Nicco, from Channel 4 in Little Rock, will be with us on Tuesday, April 17. The following is one of many poems by seniors at the center. If you love washing dishes, and cooking for yourself, taking cans down off the shelf; If you don't enjoy the school kids who come to entertain and sing, If you don't enjoy the high school band, If you wouldn't enjoy trips tp see God's creation, the beauty of the land, If you wouldn't enjoy talented singers and going shopping with senior swingers, If you wouldn't enjoy playing game, working puzzles, quilting or exercise, If you wouldn't enjoy having a meal with friends that includes drink and dessert for a dollar donation, If you wouldn't enjoy a day's vacation in a building that's cool in summer, warm in winter; Then please stay away from The Gurdon Senior Adult Center. Written by Eulah Wilson. We invite you to go by. Where? 410 Main Street, Gurdon. The center is a program of the Central Arkansas Development Council and a United Way Agency.
