An Emmet man has been arrested and charged with breaking or entering and theft in Clark County.

According to court records, Tracy Williams, 25, allegedly broke into a vehicle in Amity and took a CD/radio and eight CDs.

Breaking or entering is a class D felony with a sentence up to six years in prison and a fine up to $10,000. Theft, in this case, is a class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to a year in jail and a fine of $1,000.

On March 16, the Clark County Sheriff's Office got a call concerning the break in and subsequent theft. Criminal Investigator Will Steed responded and learned the items had been removed from a 1995 Dodge while it was parked at the Amity Housing Authority.

Deputy Ray Funderburk took a statement from Palmer Graves, of Emmet, who said, he, Mike Thomerson and Williams had been a the Housing Authority on March 16.

According to records, Graves said Williams gave him the CD player to return to the owner. Graves stopped and hid the CD player in the woods, returning the next day to give it to its rightful owner.

Williams was then questioned in the case, and reportedly admitted taking the items from the truck. According to the records, he had seen the truck unlocked on March 16, and took the CD player and CDs.

Williams also reportedly admitted giving the items to Graves on the way back to Emmet so they could be returned.

According to the reports, the CD player was valued at $200, with the CDs worth $120. In addition, $100 in damage was done to the vehicle in the process of the theft.
