Suspect Nabbed In Two-County ChaseBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, April 11, 2001 in the Nevada County Picayune A reckless driving call turned into a two-county chase recently. According to court records, Stevie Anderson, 23, of Gurdon, was charged with felony fleeing because of his actions on March 4. This is a class D felony, with a sentence up to six years in prison and a fine up to $10,000. A call was made to the Gurdon Police Department concerning a reckless driver in the Big Star parking lot. Officer Chris Harper responded. Harper saw the suspect vehicle at the Red-E-Mart convenience store on Highway 53 and identified the driver as Anderson. Anderson left the parking lot, headed west onto Joslyn in a reckless manner, according to the records, with Harper trying to get him to stop. Kenny Taylor, another GPD officer, tried to stop Anderson by blocking the road, only to have Anderson ignore the road block. Taylor had to get out of the way to avoid being hit. The pursuit spilled over onto Main Street, then on Highway 67 South ending in Nevada County, near Prescott, as deputies with the Nevada County Sheriff's Office helped get the Anderson vehicle stopped. Along with being charged with felony fleeing, Anderson was cited for reckless driving and driving without a license. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
