Rosston's City Secretary Resigns PostBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, April 11, 2001 in the Nevada County Picayune Once again the City of Rosston is looking for a new city secretary. At the regular monthly meeting of the Rosston City Council, Monday, April 2, Taun'a Budd, current secretary, tendered her resignation. The reason was so she can further her education. Budd, though, agreed to continue working at City Hall until a replacement is found and trained. At this time, applications are being taken for the position. However, applicants must live within the Rosston city limits. Rosston Mayor Lewis Jackson expressed regret at seeing Budd leave, and told the council the applications would be reviewed at the May meeting. Jackson has met with a representative from the Insurance Service Office (ISO) concerning the city's fire rating. He said Rosston could be dropped to a class 8 fire department. Once this has been done, Jackson said, the ISO will provide a letter detailing the drop in fire class to the city. When this is done, residents need to contact their insurance companies to see if they qualify for a reduction on their premiums. The city had a water leak, which has since been repaired. However, it did require all customers on city water to be placed under a boil order for three days. Jackson said an eight-inch main broke and the system lost pressure. It was the loss of pressure which required the boil order. The city is still waiting for the state to return the records being audited. This delay is causing a postponement in work on the new fire station. Jackson said the city needs to know how much money it has before finishing out the interior work on the fire house. The wet weather in March, he said, slowed down work on the fire station as well, as there are still things needing to be done to its exterior. Jackson suggested the council members think about being paid when not showing for meetings for three consecutive months, as there have been times getting a quorum has been problematic. This issue will be addressed at the May meeting as well. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
