Bracket Bash Planned At Prescott Raceway

This weekend will be the "Bracket Bash" at the Prescott Raceway.

Time trials will begin at 4 p.m., with racing to start at 7 o'clock. Tickets for the spectator side are $5 each, while pit tickets will be $10, with children under 12 getting in free.

Gates at the raceway open at 3 p.m.

On Friday nights during race season, the gates open at 6:30 p.m. This is the night of fun drags, where for $10 fans can either just watch or participate. Women get in for half price.

For the races Saturday, April 7, in the Super Pro division, Spencer Elton of Benton took the top spot with a run of 123 mph. His reaction time off the line was 0.500, while his ET was 5.32 and dial in was 5.30.

Next was McGehee's Roger Ferguson. He had a reaction time of 0.582, while his ET was 7.43 and dial in was 7.37. Ferguson's top speed was 91 mph.

The semifinalist was Mark Cathy of Camden. Cathy's top end was 87mph, while his reaction time was 0.525. His ET was 7.40, while the dial in time was 7.30.

Wayne Smothers, of Owasso, Okla., captured the no electronics class. His top speed was 90 mph, while he had a reaction time of 0.541. His ET was 7.46 while the dial in was 7.45.

Alvin Blake of McNeil was the runner up. He had a reaction time of 0.583, and a top speed of 92 mph. His ET was 7.47, while his dial in time was 7.47.

Prescott's Jim Newton was one of two runners up in the class. His reaction time was 0.544, while reaching 95 mph. His ET was 7.11, the same as his dial in time.

James Camp of Magnolia was the other runner up. His reaction time was 0.499, with a top speed of 105 mph. His ET was 6.60, while his dial in was 6.63.

The final races were in the street division, where Dave DeLille of Benton was the winner.

DeLille had a reaction time of 0.645, while reaching 70 mph. His ET was 14.38 seconds, with a dial in time of 14.24.

Ricky Lambert of Waldo was next. He turned in a reaction time of 0.577 and hit 82 mph. His ET was 11.79, while the dial in was 11.80.

Kelly Mayo of Royal was the semifinalist with a top speed of 85 mph. Mayo's reaction time was 0.627. The ET was 11.96, while the dial in was 11.99.
