It seems like we went from winter to summer. Some folks have already

turned their air conditioners on. This gives us a good chance to see if they work before the really hot weather begins.

Bill and Kay Sellers were down near Houston, Texas, last weekend. Kay's brother, David Bishop, passed away and the funeral was there. He had been battling cancer for several years. Our sympathy is extended to this family. This makes three brothers Kay has lost just in the last year or two.

Some of our friends and neighbors have been on the road going in all different directions.

We live in a very mobile society. Back in "the good ole days" before many folks had cars, it was a major accomplishment just to go to Theo, Sayre or maybe Prescott or Camden. Back then, a trip abroad might mean going to visit someone over across Caney Creek and these trips would usually take most all day.

People would have to make their own music as they traveled by singing songs. There was no radios, CD players or cassette tapes. Some of our problems may be due to the fast-paced world we live in these days. Maybe we need to slow down and look at things from a different perspective.

Kay Nelson borrowed a pair of binoculars recently. I don't know if she has taken up bird watching or needed them for another purpose. I think she was more interested in looking at a couple of roosters with the initials A. J. and G. S., who were scheduled to be in Little Rock last weekend.

The Meador twins, Bryan and Brandon, have gone into the chicken business. They are just getting started, but no telling where it all might lead. It's good for young people to have some project to call their own.

A thought this week: "All the goodness of a good egg cannot make up for the badness of a bad one."
