Gurdon Home Destroyed By Fire

HOME DESTROYED  A two-story frame house owned by Austin Capps, but rented by Wayne Loy, burned in the wee hours of the dawn Thursday, April 5. Firefighters with the Gurdon Fire Department were called out about 3 a.m., with two crews responding. According to Jake McBride, Gurdon fire chief, Loy had reportedly gone outside and saw smoke. McBride said arson isn't suspected in this case. Crews had to return to the scene at 7:30 a.m. Thursday as the flames had flared up again and had to be put out once more. There were no injuries in the fire.
