Walter Lee SlighRUGGLES - WILCOX FUNERAL HOME of ARKADELPHIAPublished Wednesday, April 11, 2001 in the Gurdon Times Walter Lee Sligh, 91, of Gurdon died Friday, March 30, 2001, at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia. Mr. Sligh was born February 10, 1919, in Amity, the son of the late John and Rosalee Weatherford Sligh. He was a Baptist and a farmer. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Clara Mae Sligh, one daughter, Bertie Neel, and one great granddaughter, Darinda Gail Johnson. Survivors include one son, Waldo Sligh of Gurdon; three daughters, Wanda Thomason of Amity, Mary McAnally of Curtis and Sue Howard of Hot Springs; one brother, George Sligh of Hot Springs; one sister, Veado Bean of Hot Springs; 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; and six great, great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 3, at Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel in Arkadelphia. Interment was in Jones Cemetery in Amity. Grandsons were pallbearers.
