Classy Moments from Cabe Middle SchoolPublished Wednesday, April 11, 2001 in the Gurdon TimesWe are so happy. We have finished the Sanford 9 Tests. The students were very cooperative, even those who were not testing. Several students had to make up one or two days of testing, due to being absent on days of testing. Hopefully, we are all caught up and can consider the test "a done deal." We are so proud of the Cabe Middle School eighth grade girls' ensemble as they received superior ratings at the State Honors Festival in Monticello. They represented CMS in a way that made us proud. The ensemble members are Amy Stiffler, Katie Bararee, Christina Daniels, Toccara Laster, Brandi Hammonds, Britta Halliday, Kayla Quillin, Jessie Livingston, Christa Hopson, Lauren Costen and Jessica Land. Of course we give a lot of credit for the great achievement of these ladies to Sandra Hitt. Sarah Armstrong, a seventh grader, has been named U.S. National Award winner in history and government. We are extremely proud of Sarah. Students are enjoying the nice weather, allowing them to be outside a little longer. Some would really enjoy not having to continue fourth period after lunch. For some reason they would rather play basketball, have a Coke, or just visit with friends. Come to think of it, that doesn't sound like a bad idea. Grades fifth, sixth and eighth will be taking the Benchmark Test April 23 through 26. This time of the school year is a busy time getting everything completed as required. Graduation caps and gowns have been ordered. Students are already asking, "When will my cap and gown come in?" That reminds me of "Are we there yet?" They are just anxious. Really something nice for them to look forward to, as well as the sponsor. Michealyn Morehead has agreed to chair a committee to decorate for the graduation. Her willingness to do this is greatly appreciated. If you are called upon to help, I am thanking you in advance. The sun is shining bright, the days are getting longer, and we are busy making Classy Moments at CMS. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
